  • Birth and descent (1843)<\/b> - Alexander Sochaczewski (Sonder Lajb) was born in Ilovo into the family of a Jewish shamash.<\/span><\/li>

  • Patriotic activities<\/b> - He was involved in independence demonstrations, published a conspiratorial press and probably took part in the assassination attempt on Wielopolski.<\/span><\/li>
  • Arrest (1862)<\/b> - He was arrested, and weapons and illegal prints were found in his apartment, which, according to Helena Boczek, indicated ties to the \"red\" organization.<\/span><\/li>
  • Death sentence and exile<\/b> - He was sentenced to be hanged, but just before his execution his sentence was commuted to 22 years of exile in Siberia.<\/span><\/li>
