Are all items in the store original?

Every object offered on Sybaris.pl is verified by specialists with the utmost care. We rely on available knowledge, stylistic and material analysis. We guarantee that descriptions reflect reality, while acknowledging that the interpretation of antiques always leaves some room for subjectivity. New research findings may appear in the future, complementing or even changing our knowledge of a given object. By authenticity, we mean the correct attribution of authorship and accurate dating of the object. Can I see the item in person before purchase?

Of course!

We run a physical store at Aleja Ken 11, unit 12B, open Monday to Friday, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.

We strongly encourage personal visits, as antiques are best experienced “in real life.” We recommend contacting us in advance to arrange a relaxed viewing and, if desired, reserve the item of your interest.

Is the online offer fully up to date?

We do our best to update the offer regularly, but due to the unique nature of our objects, it may happen that an item is sold in the physical store before we remove it from the website. That is why we always confirm availability after an order is placed and inform about any changes.

How are items delivered?

For convenience, Sybaris Gallery provides free basic packaging for personal collection. Upon explicit request, we can help arrange specialized art packing and shipping services. Such arrangements are at the buyer’s responsibility, and we are not liable for any errors made by carriers or third parties.

Can I collect the item in person?

Yes, and it is even recommended—especially for larger or more delicate items. We provide basic packaging to allow safe personal collection.

Do you offer international shipping?

Upon explicit request, we can assist with contacting specialized firms handling the packing and export of artworks. Before purchase, we recommend checking whether exporting the object outside Poland requires additional permits. Please note: Polish law (Protection of Monuments and Care of Monuments) regulates the export of certain cultural goods—e.g., paintings older than 50 years with a value above 40,000 PLN require official permission. The buyer is responsible for compliance. Inability to obtain necessary documents or delays in obtaining them do not justify withdrawal from the purchase or delay in payment. Upon request, we can also assist in contacting firms that handle formalities related to art export.

4. Returns and Complaints

Can I return a purchased item?

Yes. In line with consumer law, you have the right to withdraw from the contract within 14 days of receiving the shipment. Full details are available here [link to policy].

Do antiques also qualify for returns?

Yes, provided the item is returned in its original, undamaged condition, with no signs of use or modifications by the buyer.

How can I file a complaint?

Complaints can be submitted by email or in writing to Sybaris Gallery. The withdrawal and complaint procedure is described in detail in the regulations.

5. Authenticity and Expert Reports

Do you guarantee authenticity?

Yes. Every item is described according to the best available knowledge and carefully verified by our experts. Authenticity means correct authorship and accurate dating. Sybaris Gallery provides a 5-year authenticity guarantee for items sold on Sybaris.pl, subject to the terms in the regulations. .

Will I receive a certificate?

The sales document itself constitutes proof of authenticity, but upon request, we can issue a special certificate.

Can I request additional documentation?

We make sure each item is documented as thoroughly as possible: full views, detailed close-ups, and comprehensive descriptions covering physical features, authorship, provenance, and historical context. In fact, our descriptions often resemble mini-monographs. If you still have additional questions, you are welcome to contact us—we will gladly provide further explanations.

6. Condition and Conservation

Are the items restored?

If any object has undergone professional conservation, this information will be included in the description.

Why do some items look “dirty”?

In the antiques world, patina, natural deposits, and signs of age are values in themselves. We often leave them untouched to preserve the authentic character and “history written into the material.” These features give antiques their soul and prove authenticity.

Do you sell antiques in original, unrestored condition?

Yes. In many cases, we preserve the original look, since traces of time are part of the object’s collector value. An item “with history” often has greater value than one polished to perfection.

How should I care for an antique?

Each material requires a specific approach.


Silver: clean with a soft cloth, avoid harsh chemicals.
Wood: protect from moisture and direct sunlight.
Ceramics and glass: store under stable conditions, avoiding extreme temperatures.

Can I restore an antique myself?

We strongly advise against it. Amateur restoration may significantly reduce value or even cause irreversible damage.

7. Paintings and Artwork

Do paintings come with artist signatures?

In many cases yes, but not always - especially with Old Masters. Our descriptions clearly state whether a painting is signed, attributed, linked to a specific school, or anonymous. Each category has its place and value in collecting.

How do you determine authorship and dating?

Through in-depth analysis of technique, materials, style, and comparison with scholarly literature and museum collections. In doubtful cases, we use terms like “circle,” “workshop,” “school,” or “style,” which are standard in the art world and indicate the level of certainty.

Are paintings cleaned or restored before sale?

We intervene only when absolutely necessary for the work’s safety or readability. As a rule, we preserve patina and traces of time, which bear witness to the painting’s authenticity and history.

Are frames included in the price?

If a painting is presented on Sybaris.pl in a frame, it is sold with it. Please note, however, we do not guarantee the condition of frames.

Are the frames antiques as well?

In most cases, yes. They are old, stylistically matched to the painting, sometimes original. Some have undergone conservation, others remain in their original state. We do not guarantee their condition.

Can I restore a frame or painting myself?

Highly not recommended. Amateur restoration can drastically lower value or cause irreparable damage.

Can I buy an antique as a gift?

Of course! Antiques and artworks are truly unique gifts with soul and often historical and artistic value. They are perfect for special occasions like weddings, anniversaries, jubilees, or milestone birthdays. These are gifts remembered for years.

Do you help with gift selection?

Yes, with pleasure! If you’re unsure which object best suits a person or occasion, our experts will gladly advise, whether it’s a classic silver item for a wedding, an elegant painting for a new home, or a symbolic piece tailored to a person’s taste.

Do you offer elegant gift packaging?

Upon request, we can assist in arranging professional art packaging service, including gift wrapping suitable for the object’s character and value.

Isn’t it odd to give a used item as a gift?

Quite the opposite - it’s history and uniqueness make it extraordinary! The recipient will own something truly one-of-a-kind, with a past, a soul, and a story to pass on to future generation

9. Unusual Customer Questions

Do antiques bring luck?

We can’t guarantee that (though history is full of stories about amulets and talismans!). But they certainly enrich interiors and are a sound investment. And if you believe in the energy of objects, antiques have plenty of it.

What if I buy an item and the spirit of the previous owner haunts me?

Don’t worry, curses are not included! If you believe in the magic of objects, then maybe that’s the best proof antiques truly have a soul and unique history.

Do you sell fakes as curiosities?

No. While some forgeries have become collectible in art history, we focus solely on objects we deem authentic and original. Protecting our reputation, we make every effort to ensure fakes never enter our offer.
